From first message to golden hour: how yacht rental on the Bosphorus works

Most first charters in Istanbul begin with the same three questions: what does it cost, what is included, and where do we board? This guide answers them in order — the two-hour format, the WhatsApp thread, the classes, the routes and the piers — so your first message sounds like your second charter.

Private yacht passing the Istanbul skyline on the Bosphorus

The short version

You rent the whole boat, never a ticket. Charters start at two hours, a Comfort-class yacht starts at €300 for the first two hours, and one WhatsApp thread arranges everything that surrounds it — catering, decor, music, a photographer, transfer from your hotel to the pier. That is the entire model; the rest of this page is the useful detail.

It matters that this is an events service, not a boat-hire counter. You describe the occasion — a date, a birthday, twelve colleagues, a proposal — and the same thread that finds the yacht also books the cake, the flowers and the violinist. Nothing needs assembling from five different vendors.

Booking over WhatsApp, start to finish

Write one message

Date, rough headcount, the occasion if there is one. English, Russian and Turkish all work, and a reply typically lands within about 15 minutes.

Choose from real yachts

You receive specific boats with photos, capacity and a price for your date — Comfort from €300 for two hours, Premium and Luxury quoted individually.

Add what the day needs

Catering from €30 per person, decor, a photographer, a DJ, door-to-door transfer. Each item is a separate line, so the quote stays readable.

Confirm and board

Payment works several ways — details come in the thread. Boarding is at a central pier, and the exact pier is confirmed together with the booking.

What the base price already includes

Every charter, including one at the €300 Comfort floor, carries the same core. You are not paying extra for the person steering.

Captain and crewa licensed captain plus at least one crew member
Fuelfor the standard route; long detours are agreed in advance
Wi-Fiworking, on board, yours for the trip
Sound systemplug in a phone and the deck plays your music
Basic guest servicehelp with boarding, serving, the small logistics
Exact terms follow the boat

Two yachts at the same price can differ in deck space, saloon size and what the crew takes care of. Ask about the specific boat in the thread — answers arrive with photos, not promises.

Classes and sizes, translated

Three classes cover every occasion we host. Comfort is the everyday class: solid, well-kept boats for cruises with family and friends and for small events. Premium buys visibly more design, space and service — the usual choice for romance, business guests and milestone birthdays. Luxury is the VIP tier for weddings and large celebrations. Sizes run from cosy boats for 2–8 guests, through hulls for up to 12 and 20–30, to 40+ and event yachts hosting 100+ guests — the fleet page lays them out side by side.

Three routes, three different cities

  • Bosphorus — the main stage, and where most two-hour charters live: both the European and Asian shores, Dolmabahçe Palace at water level, Maiden's Tower, Ortaköy Mosque under the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, the waterfront houses of Bebek and Arnavutköy. Ferries and tankers share the strait and become part of the scenery. Route notes: the Bosphorus route.
  • Golden Horn — the historic inlet, run as a custom programme when the occasion suits it: quieter water, older city.
  • Princes' Islands — the long trip, out across the Sea of Marmara to Büyükada and its neighbours: pine hills, Ottoman-era wooden mansions, restricted motor traffic and, in season, the swimming stops we never promise on the Bosphorus itself, which is a working shipping lane. Details: the islands route.

Daylight, sunset or after dark

Daytime charters show the shores in full colour and suit families, first visits and photographs of the architecture. The sunset slot is the famous one — the light drops behind the European side while the Asian shore glows — and it books out first. Evening charters trade landmarks for lights: both shores lit, bridges lit, ferries crossing with glowing windows. The boat is the same; the city changes costume three times a day.

Food and drink on board

On most yachts you may bring your own food and drinks — a picnic, a cake, your own wine — at no charge. Catering exists for the days you would rather arrive with empty hands: from €30 per person, running from breakfast through canapés to full dinner service with waiters, plus custom menus when the occasion has opinions. Say which way you lean in the first message and the quote arrives already correct.

Boarding, seasons, and winter honesty

Boarding happens at central, easy-to-reach piers, and the exact pier is confirmed with the booking — with door-to-door transfer available from a hotel, the airport or any address in the city. Cruises run all year. May to October is the warm season of open decks; in winter the life of the boat moves into the enclosed saloon, where the skyline stays in the windows and the coats stay on their hooks. The current numbers live on the price page, the full arithmetic of a quote is taken apart in the cost guide, and the charter planner turns five answers into a shortlist.

How far ahead should a yacht in Istanbul be booked?

There is no fixed rule: the thread answers in about 15 minutes and short-notice weekday charters often work. The practical exception is warm-season sunset slots and event yachts for big guest lists — those calendars fill first, so write as soon as the date exists.

Can we bring our own food and alcohol on board?

On most yachts in the fleet, yes — own food and drinks are welcome at no extra charge, and the crew will help stow and serve them. Confirm it for the specific boat in the thread; when you would rather not carry bags, catering starts at €30 per person.

Is a two-hour charter actually enough?

For the core of the Bosphorus, yes: palaces, Maiden's Tower, the bridge and both shores fit into two well-planned hours, which is exactly what the €300 Comfort format covers. The Princes' Islands need a longer booking, and lazy evenings deserve one — longer charters are quoted individually.

Do the yachts sail in winter?

Yes — cruises in Istanbul run year-round. Boats have enclosed saloons, so in the cool months the format simply moves indoors: same skyline, warm room, and a sunset that arrives conveniently early, around five in the afternoon in December.
